A successful Day! June 30, 2019 Log Cabin Day
The crowd had beautiful weather, lots of families enjoying the activities, the Log Cabin and the Light House. Many also went to the newly opened Dougherty Mission House. The Old Mission Parade was also changed to the same day to create more to celebrate on this day.
Log Cabin Day is celebrated statewide on the last Sunday in June at historic log cabin sites across Michigan. The centerpiece of the local observance is the Hessler Log Cabin at Lighthouse Park at the tip of the Old Mission Peninsula. The log cabin was open, music of the 1800's, historic crafts and demonstrations were featured. The Maritime Heritage Alliance displayed the Gracie L (Michigan Boat) on a trailer and also a voyageur canoe.
